CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD) As the roles and responsibilities of pharmacy technicians change and develop within the hospital environment, we must learn new skills and knowledge to carry out these duties competently. If we want to move forward and become value adding members of the pharmacy services team, it is not sufficient to rely solely on our past education and qualifications. Participation in continuing professional development (CPD) is central to working as a professional. It enables pharmacy technicians to demonstrate to their employers and to their customers that they are maintaining and building on their capabilities. CPD can be defined as everything a pharmacy technician learns to make him or her better able to do their job. Courses are now becoming more readily available in the UK to support the need for CPD and these courses can be accessed by Irish pharmacy technicians through attendance and or distance learning. Opportunities are also developing closer to home as new schools of pharmacy open and new courses become available for technicians and pharmacists. The N.A.H.P.T. will aim to bring information to you on these courses via our newsletters and education days. We hope that anybody who has completed any interesting courses would provide us with information to share with others. We also hope to talk to course providers and institutes to see if they will deliver courses to us here in Ireland e.g. accredited technician checking qualifications. Listed are some course names and contact information for courses that have been completed and recommended by Irish Hospital Technicians.
Have you completed a course which isn’t listed? If you have please let me know and I will put it on to the list. Contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it |
